We wrote in an earlier chapter of the steps of faith as Abram grew to trust God throughout his life. These are recorded in Hebrews 11:8–19. Here we have to consider something quite different. We have, not the steps of faith, but the steps of “unfaith,” that is, of unbelief. Tracing them will show us the end to which Abram’s failure to trust God in famine led him, and it will confirm any feelings we may have about Abram’s decision being a wrong one.
